Appointments no longer required for COVID-19 testing centre in Brockville

By Victoria Williston

The COVID-19 assessment centre in Brockville no longer requires patients to have an appointment or a referral to get tested for the virus.

Starting Friday, the centre located at 100 Magedoma Boulevard is open to the public seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Medical Officer of Health for the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit, Dr. Paula Stewart said it's important for people who think they have COVID-19 to get tested in order to reduce the spread of the virus.

So far, there have been 244 cases of COVID-19 in the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark area, including 28 deaths.

Twenty-five of those deaths have been in long-term care homes, which are seeing outbreaks all across the province.
