Ottawa fire crews tackle multiple fires in various areas of the city

Ottawa Fire Services attended to three fires in one day— one behind a movie theatre, another being a brush fire and lastly a grass fire.
Firefighters were first called to the Britannia area at Rowatt Street and Britannia Road at about 4 a.m. Saturday to attend to a brush fire on NCC property.
The brush fire extended 100 ft. by 200 ft.
Multiple crews were on scene using chainsaws to work their way through the forested area.
The main body of the fire was out by 4:30 a.m.
A stop loss was declared at about 5:40 a.m.
There were no reported injuries.
Firefighters were called to Mer Bleue at Innes Road at around 9:20 a.m. after multiple calls reporting smoke visible in a bog behind the cinemas.
The fire was initially reported as a 40 m radius. and it was declared a working grass fire.
Firefighters used forestry equipments brush truck and other specialized equipment to bring the 10 acre fire under control on the City of Ottawa-owned property.
Buildings were exposed to the fire but the fire was declared under control just before 11 a.m.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
Firefighters were then called to the area just outside the Greenbelt at 8941 Mitch Owens Rd. at York’s Corner Road.
The homeowners reported an outdoor fire had spread out of control.
A working fire was declared upon arrival and firefighters attacked the 200 ft. by 600 ft. grass fire.
One civilian was assessed for smoke inhalation.
Two trees were brought down during the fire, but no buildings were exposed.
The fire was under control by 1:30 p.m.
