25-year-old charged with attempted murder after ByWard Market stabbing

Serious charges were laid by police after a nighttime stabbing in the ByWard Market that left a victim in critical condition.

A 25-year-old man was identified through an investigation after police put out a plea for video footage in the area of George and William streets on April 11.

The incident happened around 11:00 p.m. Officers responded to the area for a stabbing and when they arrived, found a victim suffering in critical condition from a stab wound. Days after the scene, police said they hadn’t identified any suspects and asked the public for help.

Weeks later, police identified a 25-year-old in connection with the case and laid several charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, possessing a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing. Police are still looking for additional video footage from the area around the time of the stabbing.
