Man accused of operating unlicensed security company in Ottawa

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Police Service has charged a man who they say has been showing up to local businesses and providing unexpected security-related services without having signed a contract with them.

Investigators first got word about the man operating a security company while not having a security license back on April 20. Officers then learned that these type of incidents had been happening since December 2019,

The suspect would wear a security guard uniform with Undodo Security written on the sleeves, and drive a black vehicle with emergency lights on the interior and Undodo Security written on it as well.

Morley Andrew Thompson has been charged with:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Fraud Under $5,000
  • Public Mischief
  • Failure to comply with an order
  • Two charges under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

It is believed that there could be more victims — people or companies — that have had interactions with the accused while he was performing unlicensed security related duties.

Anyone with information regarding these kind of security services is asked to call the Ottawa Police Service East Criminal Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 3566.
