A police bust of a local “chop shop” for bicycles has recovered more than two dozen bikes that Ottawa officers are looking to reunite with their owners.
Raids of two addresses — one in Lowertown, the other in Centretown — netted 27 stolen bicycles. Three others were recovered by frontline officers.
Of the 30 stolen bicycles, police say three have been reunited with their owners through previously filed police reports..
The remaining unclaimed bicycles recovered have been added to the 529 Garage registry, a bicycle registry which acts as a community watch for the biking community.
Police urge local bicycle owners to immediately report bicycle thefts, with the bike's serial number, saying that reporting a serial number is the most effective way for a bike owner to have their bicycle returned to them, if it's found or recovered by police.
