Rockcliffe Retirement added to COVID-19 outbreak list; 16 more cases reported across Ottawa

One resident has tested positive for COVID-19 at Chartwell Rockcliffe Retirement Residence, making it the seventh local institution currently dealing with an outbreak of the virus.
Of all the institutions listed by Ottawa Public Health (OPH), only two have more than two cases: Billingswood Manor has nine, while Carling Family Shelter has reported eight.
There are 16 new cases of COVID-19 being reported across the city, Wednesday.
Active cases in the community, that OPH is aware of, are up to 174, while hospitalizations are up to 12. There hasn't been anyone in intensive care with COVID-19 all week.
Ottawa's COVID-19 death toll remains at 266, as there hasn't been a local death related to the virus reported since August 20.
Overall, there have been 2,871 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa since the beginning of the pandemic. Of those, 2,431 (84.7 per cent) have been resolved.
