Cumberland by-election voting day approaching — what you need to know

Cumberland voters — get ready to cast your ballots in the 2020 ward’s by-election, happening next week.
Voting day is Monday, October 5 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and voting places will offer anywhere voting, meaning that electors can vote at any voting place regardless of their address.
The following locations are available to cast ballots:
- Bearbrook Community Hall, 8720 Russell Road
- Carlsbad Springs Community Centre, 6020 Piperville Road
- François Dupuis Recreation Centre, 2263 Portobello Boulevard
- Navan Memorial Centre, 1295 Colonial Road
- Redeemer Alliance Church, 4825 Innes Road
- R.J. Kennedy Arena and Community Hall,1115 Dunning Road
- Sarsfield Community Hall, 3585 Sarsfield Road
- South Fallingbrook Community Centre, 998 Valin Street
Eligible electors should bring an acceptable piece of ID with their name and qualifying Ottawa address when they vote.
Voters who feel sick can also get someone to vote for them by proxy.
A proxy is someone that can go to the voting place and cast a ballot on your behalf. This person must be an eligible elector and should be someone you trust to mark the ballot the way you instructed them to.
The proxy will be required to present proof of their identity.
The special mail-in ballot must be received at the Elections Office or the Orleans Client Service Centre by October 5 at 4:30 p.m.
Special ballots received after the deadline will not be counted.
