The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is trying to return as many stolen bikes to their rightful owners as possible after dicovering another cache of stolen bicycles in the city.
The Centretown Neighbourhood Resource Team and other frontline officers were on patrol, Saturday, November 7, when they spotted 37 bikes at a property along Catherine Street, near Bank Street. One other bike seized by an officer was linked to this seizure.
Two of the bikes have been returned to their owners while the other 36 bikes are being seized and itemized to see if owners can be identified and located.
No charges have been laid yet, as the investigation is ongoing.
Over the course of August and September, OPS officers uncovered more than 140 stolen bikes in the city as part of Project Hot Wheels.
Residents are encouraged to protect their bikes by registering them with 529 Garage. Find more information about this program here.
