Firefighters help several residents escape Centretown house fire
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) says everyone is safe after fire broke out in a James Street home.
OFS received a 911 call at 10:53 a.m., Monday, December 21, reporting dark black smoke coming from the rear of a home on James Street, between Lyon Street and Kent Street, in Centretown.
The caller advised this was a high-occupancy residence with approximately 20 residents.

Firefighters got into the home, found the fire and contained it to one bedroom. They then searched the remaining units of the home and helped several residents leave the building.
There were no reported injuries and the fire is under control.
An OFS investigator is en route to determine the cause of the fire.
