Ottawa Public Library to adjust services during COVID-19 lockdown

By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is getting set to scale back some of its services, in compliance with the provincial shutdown set to begin on December 26.

The OPL says it will be offering curbside returns and holds pickup at open branches, as well as Bookmobile stops.

Delivery for Homebound Services customers in their own homes will continue during the lockdown.

As per provincial regulations, customers will not be allowed inside the branches, starting on Boxing Day and through the duration of the lockdown. All in-branch services will be unavailable during the shutdown period. Ski passes and museum passes will not be available during this period either.

The Kiosk Services at the Hunt Club-Riverside Park Community Centre will also be closed, while the facility is closed.

The OPL says customers will be able to return items and pick up holds without an appointment. Customers will need to bring their library cards and line up at the branch entrance to pick up their holds. Employees will facilitate the collection and pick up of materials.

Items can be returned during opening hours only. The  hours of operation for open branches will remain the same (holiday hours can be found on the OPL website).
