Gatineau Park staying open during Quebec curfew period

By Dani-Elle Dubé

With a curfew coming to Quebec this weekend, what does that mean for outdoor enthusiasts wanting to get their winter fix in the region’s largest green space?

“In the context of the new measures established by the Government of Quebec, the National Capital Commission confirmed that Gatineau Park will remain open, and will make temporary adjustments to its offering of winter activities.”

In order to comply with the curfew, all Gatineau Park parking lots will be closed at 7 p.m. and will reopen at 5 a.m.

The visitor centre, however, will be closed temporarily. Information services will be available by phone.

Gatineau Day shelters are still open, but on a first-come, frost-served basis — and only for one household at a time. And all are accessible for emergencies.

The reservation system for the shelters will be available at a later date.
