Carleton Place man facing sex assault, extortion charges

Provincial police have charged a Carleton Place man after a sexual assault investigation in Rideau Lakes.

On October 18, 2020, police received information concerning allegations of a sexual assault.

Following an investigation by the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Michael Elliott, 38, is facing the following charges:

Sexual assault
Extortion

Elliot is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The OPP is concerned there could be more victims and is asking anyone with information to please come forward. If you have any information, please call Leeds County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
