By Mike Vlasveld

A 31-year-old Ottawa man is facing charges, including assaulting a police officer, after police responded to multiple residential break and enters in a Stittsville neighbourhood.

Police were called to Jonathan Pack Street at about 12:35 a.m., Tuesday, March 23, when a home owner saw a suspect in their backyard, attempting to break in or steal something.

When officers arrived, another resident on the same street approached them to say a man had just kicked his door down.

Shortly after, there was a third report of an attempted break-in on a nearby street, with the same suspect description given.

Officers found the suspect, but when they approached him to make the arrest, he flashed a knife and ran away. After a short foot chase, the suspect was arrested.

  • Break and enter with intent (two counts)
  • Trespassing at Night
  • Mischief under $5,000 (two counts)
  • Resisting arrest
  • Assaulting police with a weapon

He is set to appear in court, Tuesday.

Police believe there may be other victims in this case.
