Arrest made in 2020 shooting just west of Britannia

Ottawa police have a man, wanted on charges in relation to a Boyce Avenue shooting, in custody. 

Two people were injured in the shooting, which happened on June 29, 2020.

Akol Akoi, 23, of Ottawa was arrested Monday, April 19, in the Albion Road area. 

During the arrest officers say they seized a loaded semi-automatic .40 calibre handgun, illegal drugs and Canadian currency. 

A second man, Dominik Teale, 35, of Ottawa was also arrested and charged with:

  • Occupying a motor vehicle knowing a firearm was present
  • Breaches of weapons prohibition (three counts)

Akoi has been charged with:

  • Several firearms-related offences
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
