Community support continues to pour in for the family of Ian Goddard, who died in a recent dirt bike crash on Franktown Road at Munster Road in Ottawa's southwest end.
According to Ottawa police, three dirt bike riders were heading north on Munster Road when two of them collided with a vehicle that was heading east on Franktown Road on April 18. Goddard passed away shortly afterward, while a 15-year-old suffered serious injuries.
Laura Doane set up a GoFundMe page for the Goddard family on April 23, with a goal of raising $15,000. As of Tuesday, the fundraiser was up past $35,000.
On Saturday, Doane had already said the family was overwhelmed by the community's kindness, support and love.
“At this time, they feel as though the amount raised is all they will need and any additional money collected, they would love to do something special in Ian's name,” wrote Doane.
Trucks could be seen lining local roads on Saturday in honour of the teen who Doane says was “one of the most loveable kids you could imagine.”
The Goddard family has asked that any further donations in Ian's name be given to CHEO.
