Ottawa man latest to face charges in Highway 17 debris investigation

Provincial police have charged a third person in connection with an investigation into debris being placed on Highway 17 between Pembroke and Renfrew.
The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) and Renfrew detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) started an investigation earlier this year, after debris began appearing on the roadway during overnight hours.
Debris found on the highway three separate times, between January 8 and February 9, has included rocks the size of basketballs, vehicle rims and water tanks.
Justin Christopher Lewis, 22, of Ottawa, is the latest to be arrested and faces the following charges:
- Mischief endangering life (three counts)
He was released with a court date in Pembroke on May 25, 2021.
Two men are already facing charges in this investigation.
In late February, Joshua Patrick Boyce, 21, of Bonnechere Valley Township, was charged with the following offences:
- Two counts of mischief endangering life
- Theft under $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
In early March, the OPP laid the following charges against Braydon Pierce, 21, of Golden Lake:
- Mischief endangering life (three counts)
- Mischief under $5000.
The investigation is ongoing.
