Orléans Health Hub to open in June

By Mike Vlasveld

The Orléans Health Hub is finally set to open its doors to clients after years of planning and construction.

The hub, which is set to offer a range of specialized and community-based care under one roof, officially opens on June 24, 2021, on Mer-Bleue Road at the corner of Brian Coburn Boulevard.

The $59.7-million project is a partnership between Bruyère, Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre, Hôpital Montfort, ParaMed, Ottawa Public Health, Geriatric Psychiatry Community Services of Ottawa and Home and Community Support Services Champlain. It first received government support in 2011.

All family physicians in the area will be able to refer their patients to the Hub for community and specialty services.

Parking will be free for all and bus stops are available nearby.

A new website describing all the programs and services offered at the Orléans Health Hub, and how to access them, will be launched in the coming weeks.

A major fundraising campaign, led by the Montfort Foundation, will be launched shortly to support the financing of the Hub.

The Hub is expected to open in two phases:

Phase 1, June 24: Senior services, medical imaging, rehabilitation services, some mental health and wellness services, some specialty clinics, care coordination, a mobility aid store and a laboratory.

Phase 2, Fall 2021: Some mental health and wellness services that were not transferred in June, as well as specialty clinics from Montfort and a coffee shop.

On the hub's current web page, it says an official inauguration could take place in the summer, if the pandemic situation allows for it.
