UPDATE: Fatal Highway 7 collision under investigation near Carleton Place

A fatal collision on Highway 7, east of Carleton Place, is under investigation.

Officers with the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single-vehicle crash around 5:55 a.m. on Friday, May 14.

Police say a car had left the roadway and struck a guide rail. 

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead on scene. 

The westbound lanes of the highway, between Dwyer Hill Road and Ashton Station Road, were closed until mid-afternoon for the police investigation.
