Rogers tv celebrating 30 years in Ottawa

Rogers tv Ottawa is celebrating 30 years of local, community-driven content.

“We look back on those 30 years with a great sense of pride of what's been accomplished,” says General Manager of Rogers tv Julie Henson.

Henson, who oversees Rogers tv stations across Canada, tells CityNews Ottawa their stations really shine when there is an occasion.

“Sometimes they're celebrations, you know, you think about the Grey Cup parade a couple years back,” she explains.

Rogers tv also plays a critical role during unfortunate times like the ice storm of 1998, or the tornadoes in 2018.

“The things that the community remembers is what we remember because that's what we do,” says Henson. “We're a reflection of that community and everything that they live through.”

Most recently, Ottawa's Rogers tv station has been important for getting municipal news to residents during the pandemic.

“Presenting each and every Ottawa Public Health news conference, every announcement… a lot of city council meetings have been extended so that's been important.”
