The extension of Campeau Drive is officially open after the two-year construction project came to a close sooner than anticipated.
The $32-million project extends Campeau Drive from County Glen Way to Didsbury Road, which is expected to make it easier for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to access new developments. It also increases capacity along what has become a key commuting corridor.
“Whether you travel by bus, car or bike, the extension of Campeau Drive means schools, local businesses, and many other destinations are now easier to get to,” says Mayor Jim Watson.
The project includes a new four-lane road, segregated cycling lanes, sidewalks, a roundabout at Winterset Road, two intersections with signals and a new bridge over the Carp River.
