A senior Rottweiler-hound mix suffering from a potentially life-threatening condition needs specialized surgery, but the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) says it's expensive.
Bosley was found abandoned in an outdoor dog enclosure at the OHS in November.
After he was admitted, staff soon found that he was suffering from a condition known as a bilateral perineal hernia. The OHS says it is treatable, but requires intensive care and a specialized surgery, which will cost more than $6,500.
“Bosley is an incredibly well-behaved dog — basically the perfect patient,” said Dr. Shelley Hutchings, OHS chief veterinarian. “We don't know for sure how long his condition has been left untreated, but we're happy he's with us now and can get the care he desperately needs.”
After Bosley receives his surgery, the OHS says he will be closely monitored for several weeks while he rests and recovers with a regimen of medications.
Once the old pup has fully recovered, the OHS will begin searching for his forever home.
