Two injured in Alfred-Plantagenet house fire

By Alex Black

Two people were injured in a house fire in Alfred-Plantagenet Township over the weekend.

Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, the Alfred-Plantagenet and Wendover Fire Services responded to reports of a house fire on Principale Street where someone was possibly still inside.

By 4 a.m., the home was fully engulfed in flames and the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene.

It was determined that all occupants had escaped the fire, with one person suffering from smoke inhalation and another suffering life-threatening injuries.

The OPP says both patients were taken into the care of Prescott-Russell Emergency Services.

While no cause has been released, the OPP says the investigation into the fire is now complete.
