After a lengthy COVID-19 pandemic-related suspension, staff at Megabus have announced cross-border bus services between Canada and the United States will be resuming as of mid-May.
Citing growth in demand, a spokesperson told CityNews in a statement the company is also boosting existing services on its Toronto-Kingston-Ottawa, Toronto-Montreal and Toronto-Niagara Falls routes.
The changes will take effect on May 11.
For those looking to travel to the U.S. by bus, the company will service the following destinations: Albany, Baltimore, Buffalo, Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Harrisburg, New York City, Philadelphia, Ridgewood, Rochester, State College, Syracuse and Washington, D.C.
When it comes to the company’s Canadian routes, the Toronto-Kingston-Ottawa will see the biggest increase with 70 per cent more trips.
As of the end of March, customers will still be required to wear face coverings unless exempt for medical reasons or if the rider is under the age of two.
The announcement came days after FlixBus, a European transportation company, announced its expansion into Canada. As of April 7, that company will begin operating out of Toronto.
Also, after Greyhound Canada announced in 2021 it was cutting all of its routes and ending operations, other transportation companies have boosted services too.
