One dead, four seriously injured following two-vehicle crash near Casselman

A person has been confirmed dead and four others are in hospital after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 417 eastbound near the Casselman exit.
Russell County OPP responded to the two-vehicle crash shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, April 15, where one of the two vehicles went off the roadway and hit a tree.
The Nation Township Fire Department and the Prescott-Russell Emergency Medical Services attended to the scene.
One adult passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The lone occupant of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The OPP Traffic Collision Investigators attended to the scene to help with the investigations that’s still ongoing.
Due to the ongoing investigation, Highway 417 eastbound is currently closed between mile marker 66 and mile marker 79.
