OPP lay charges in death investigation

The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in connection with the death of a 38-year-old male from the Pembroke area.

On July 5, 2021 members of the UOV OPP assisted Renfrew County paramedics at a residence on Wilfred Street in the city of Pembroke. Officers located Mitchell Wayne Dick deceased at the location.

Following an extensive investigation, one person has been arrested.

On April 20, 2022, Craig Maynes, 44, of Pembroke, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  •  Manslaughter
  • Criminal negligence causing death 
  • Trafficking in a schedule I substance – methamphetamines 
  • Trafficking in a schedule I substance – fetanyl 

The accused was held for a bail hearing on April 21, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke.
