Bluesfest in need of volunteers as festival returns

By CityNews Ottawa

RBC Bluesfest is back at LeBreton Flats for the first time since 2019.

And with the return of the popular festival this year, there is a need for volunteers.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of the festival,” said Joe Reilly, an RBC Bluesfest spokesperson on The Sam Laprade Show on Monday, July 4. “When you don't run an event of this size for two years, people tend to move on.”

Reilly said their youth volunteers have aged out, and they are looking to rebuild their youth volunteer core.

“They (youth volunteers) become our heart and soul,” he added.

Reilly said there's lots of great benefits for volunteering at the festival, including a complimentary festival pass.

This year, the event runs from July 7 until July 17 at LeBreton Flats, and features the talents of Alanis Morisette, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Jack Johnson, Ja Rule, Luke Bryan, Rage Against the Machine, Sarah McLachlan and many more.
