Wilson Lo elected councillor for Barrhaven East

By Anil Jhalli

Wilson Lo is headed to Ottawa City Hall and representing a new ward.

Lo is the first ever councillor for the new Barrhaven East ward.

He won 36.82 per cent of the votes.

“It hasn't sunk in and I don't think it will for a few weeks,” said Lo on The Sam Laprade Show on Oct. 27, days after becoming the councillor-elect for the ward. “It's a culmination of months of hard work.”

Lo said one of the priorities for the ward is providing better transit options, especially finding ways to travel around Barrhaven.

“The transit system is designed to cater to our downtown, 9-5 commuters and we are clinging to this hope that everyone is going to go back downtown every single day,” said Lo. “It's not fair for people who rely on services where they have to go to work everyday and they see these express buses go by them every single day with very few people on them.”
