The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is seeking a new director of education (DOE).

Camille Williams-Taylor, who has served as the DOE for the OCDSB for the past four years, has accepted the position of DOE with the Durham District School Board (DDSB).

She begins her new role in January of 2023.

OCDSB chair Lynn Scott said Williams-Taylor has been an inspirational leader to the students and staff of the board.

“She has been instrumental in helping to build a culture of innovation, caring and social responsibility,” said Scott. “With her guidance, the board has made significant progress in actioning its commitment to Indigenous education, equity, and human rights. We deeply appreciate her contributions to public education in Ottawa.”

Williams-Taylor said the decision to leave the OCDSB was not an easy one to make.

“It has been an absolute privilege to serve as your director of Education,” she said. “I have learned so much over these past four years and am grateful for the warmth of the OCDSB community. As much as I have enjoyed everything that Ottawa has to offer, Durham is home to me and to my family. I hope that people will understand that this new opportunity will allow me to bring more balance to my professional and personal responsibilities.”

The newly elected trustees take office next week and will begin the search for a replacement DOE.
