Police charge 55-year-old Belleville man with second degree murder in connection to death of elderly person in Kingston

A 55-year-old man from Belleville Ontario is facing numerous charges in connection to the death of an 88-year-old man in Kingston earlier this week. 

Jahzerah Berndt, 88, was found dead at a home on McKendry Road, where he lived alone.

Kingston police and the East Region Coroner's Office responded to a call for the death on Monday, Nov. 14. 

Daniel Berndt has been charged with: 

  • Second-degree murder
  • Carrying a weapon during the commission of an offence
  • Breach of probation

Investigators are looking for witnesses who may have seen a two-door GMC Jimmy between Nov. 12 and Nov. 13.

“It is believed this vehicle travelled from Belleville to Glenburnie and back at that time,” Kingston police said in a release
