UOV OPP RIDE program week three results

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2022 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign started on Nov.17 17, 2022 and runs until Jan. 2, 2023. 

During the third week of the campaign from Dec. 1 to Dec. 7, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 39 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area. 

On Dec. 2, the UOV OPP partnered with the Petawawa Police Service Board and the Garrison Petawawa Military Police to host a Mega RIDE Program in the town of Petawawa. During the afternoon hours police investigated a driver at a checkpoint and as a result, Meagan Christina Whalen, 30, of Petawawa has been charged with: 

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Dec. 20, 2022.  

A 40-year-old Pembroke resident was charged after being stopped by police in the city of Pembroke on the evening of Dec. 5, 2022. 

As a result of the investigation, Phillippe Jason Chaput has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Jan. 17, 2023.
