The National Capital Commission (NCC) advised potential visitors in the area that Breton Beach was closed earlier this week
The NCC said that a bloom of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) was spotted at the edge of the beach, and the decision was made to close the beach until further notice.
The bloom of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) has since dissipated, and the water is now safe for swimming, in accordance with MELCCFP (Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs) standards.
Notice: Breton beach at Philippe Lake is closed to swimming until further notice due to a bloom of cyanobacteria (Blue-Green Algae).
