Environment Canada has ended a tornado warning for Ottawa.

The advisory came before 7 p.m. this evening.

It is one of three advisories issued by the weather agency as the capital remains under a tornado watch. It had issued a tornado warning earlier today.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning earlier, and again later just after 7:30 p.m.

Some areas including Stittsville in the city’s west end were hit by a hail storm.

The weather agency said that beginning this afternoon and into the evening, a tornado with wind gusts of up to 100 km/h was possible.

Environment Canada said the tornado warning was for Ottawa-Gatineau, Prescott-Russell, Renfrew-Arnprior-Calabogie, Petawawa-Pembroke-Cobden, and Smiths Falls-Perth and Eastern Lanark County.

Hydro Ottawa said crews are standing by and will be ready should any power outages occur.

Hydro Ottawa is reporting outages in  west end areas of the capital including Richmond Rideau Jock and Stittsville affecting 5,000 customers.
