Police investigating shooting death of 26-year-old man near Carlsbad Springs, seeking video footage

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Homicide Unit is investigating a shooting in rural southeast Ottawa where a 26-year-old man was found dead.

The OPS said officers responded to 4000 block of Farmers Way, west of Carlsbad Springs, at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 after people witnessed a shooting.

Police said they found a man at the scene with gunshot wounds, who later died of his injuries.

The OPS later identified the man as Granit Ahmeti of Ottawa.

Investigators are requesting that residents and business owners in the area of Farmers Way, Anderson Road, Thunder Road and Piperville Road look at their video security systems for any suspicious activity between the hours of 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Aug. 19.

Investigators are seeking surveillance video from residents and persons who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, and are asking anyone with information to contact the OPS Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.
