Transit riders across the city can now tap their credit cards when they use Ottawa’s transit services.
On Thursday Sept. 7, OC Transpo launched a a system-wide expansion of O-Payment, providing people with an opportunity to pay with their credit cards or mobile wallet when taking a bus or riding the O-train.
“The launch of O-Payment means an easier way for #TeamOttawa to take transit,” said Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter during the launch of the system. “Now, tourists and residents alike can simply tap a credit card or mobile wallet to get around our city.”

There is no option to tap debit at this time, but OC Transpo said plans are to include in the future.
OC Transpo started testing for the O-Payment system this summer as smartcard fare readers were placed on all light rail transit (LRT) fare gates and buses.
