Ottawa police charge three people in connection to last month’s Embassy of Senegal protest

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has identified and charged three people in relation to a protest at the Embassy of Senegal in early August. 

Shortly before noon on Aug. 1, a group of demonstrators forced their way into the Embassy of Senegal and according to the OPS , committed a number of offences including assault, mischief over $5,000, forcible entry, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

The OPS initially said they were looking to identify 15 people as part of the investigation and on Aug. 17, police said two people were identified while the investigation continued.

On Thursday, Sept. 14, two Ottawa residents and a resident of Saint Eustache, Quebec are facing charges including forcible confinement, assault, mischief over $5,000, mischief obstruct property and causing a disturbance.

The OPS is looking to identify the other 10 people involved in the incident.
