Crews tackle fire in Vanier
Ottawa firefighters responded to a fire in the Vanier area over the weekend.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) said it received “many 9-1-1 calls” just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30 reporting one unit in an apartment building consumed by flames on McArthur Avenue between Irwin Miller Street and Brant Street.
Fire crews helped safely evacuate multiple occupants, and no injuries have been reported.

Firefighters checked other floors in the structure for the spread of smoke and flames.
The fire was under control by 8:31 p.m

The second fire was at approx 19:58 when multiple 9-1-1 callers reported a fire the bedroom of an apartment in a 48 unit complex in 300 block of McArthur Ave. Firefighters arrived in 4min & found smoke & flames coming from a 2nd flr window.
