No major incidents to report from Panda Game festivities: OPS

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is reporting no major incidents over the weekend in connection with Panda Game activities.

Police said two people were arrested for public intoxication.

The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees defeated the Carleton Ravens 18-16 in the annual clash between the two schools.

“Thank you to all who took advantage of public transportation and organized activities,” the OPS said. “We want to thank everyone for remaining respectful of the community surrounding Ottawa and Carleton universities.”

The Panda Game has been marred by controversy over the past few years over loud parties and celebrations in the Sandy Hill area.

In 2022, over 80 provincial offence notices were issued for open alcohol and Ottawa By-law handed out over 100 parking tickets as well.

In 2021, celebrations quickly escalated. Thousands of students flooded the Sandy Hill neighbourhood, and some students could be seen on social media flipping a car.

Ottawa police officers and by-law officials were out earlier this week, going door-to-door in Sandy Hill updating residents on plans for the weekend.
