MTO confirms new date for Percy Street overpass replacement

By CityNews Ottawa

A new date for a twice-delayed overpass replacement has been announced.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) confirmed the Percy Bridge, which runs over Highway 417, will now be replaced on Thursday, Oct. 19, and will re-open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

An MTO representative told CityNews Ottawa in an email Friday, Oct. 6, that commuters can expect a full closure of Highway 417, in both directions, for five consecutive days.

During the construction, the following eastbound on-ramps will be closed:

  • Carling Avenue
  • Parkdale Avenue
  • Maitland Avenue

The following westbound on-ramps will also be closed:

  • O’Connor Street
  • Lyon Street North

The overpass replacement was delayed twice for unknown reasons. Most recently, the replacement was slated for the weekend of Sept. 28, while the initial replacement was scheduled during the summer.
