An Ottawa firefighter was injured while tackling a garage fire in Manotick Tuesday afternoon.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to Manotick Main Street, between Rideau Valley Drive and Highcroft Drive, around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Once on scene, OFS declared a working fire due to the heavy smoke and visible flames over the garage.

The fire was quickly brought under control just after 4:10 p.m.

One firefighter suffered an injury that is described as non-critical in nature.

A fire investigator has been dispatched to determine the origin and cause.

A cat was found inside and reunited with the owner.
