Snow forecast followed by milder weather as Ottawa gets ready for Christmas

By Alex Black

Despite the snow that the nation’s capital will experience on Tuesday, it’s looking like the week will transition into milder weather.

Environment Canada is forecasting around 2 cm of snow for Ottawa on Tuesday, Dec. 19 with northwest winds gusting up to 40 km/h and a high of -2 C.

The snow will taper off around noon on Tuesday and the temperature is expected to hold around -4 C throughout the day.

If you’re hoping for a white Christmas, the forecast doesn’t look great.

Environment Canada predicts a rainy Christmas Day with a high of 3 C.

Environment Canada defines a white Christmas as having two or more centimeters of snow on the ground as of 7 a.m. Christmas day.

Thursday marks the official start of winter.
