Man found guilty of murder in 2019 shooting of Ottawa musician

Donald Musselman has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the 2019 slaying of Ottawa hip-hop artist Markland Anthony Campbell.

Campbell, 41, who performed with the local hip-hop/reggae group ‘Half Sized Giants’ under the name Jahiant Jahh, was killed on July 7, 2019 by the ByWard Market. He was shot while trying to help his daughter after she told him she had been assaulted.

He later died in hospital.

According to the group, Campbell led an anti-violence concert in 1994 to protest the drive-by shooting death of British engineer Nicholas Battersby.

Musselman was 18 at the time of his arrest and could face life in prison with no chance of parole for 10 years.

Sentencing was scheduled for a future date.
