Ottawa hate crime unit looking for suspect wanted in graffiti spree across the city

Ottawa police’s hate crime unit is asking the public for help in finding a man wanted for spray-painting “hate graffiti” across the capital.

 The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said black spray paint was used to put up hate related graffiti in multiple areas across the city on December 22, 2023 starting around 6:00 p.m.

Police said graffiti was found on Elgin, O’Connor, Nepean, Cooper, Gilmour, Gloucester, Lisgar and Metcalfe Streets as well as in Confederation Park.

OPS describe the suspect as a white male, with a beard and moustache. They added he was wearing a long yellow-beige winter coat, hooded dark sweater, dark pants and dark footwear.
