1 arrested in Champagne Avenue shooting, suspected killer still at large

Police arrested an Ottawa man and are still looking for another involved in a shooting that killed a man in Little Italy two weeks ago.

Police say they arrested Sharmaake Abdi Abdi Hire, 28, of Ottawa on Friday and charged him with accessory after the fact to a murder that happened on Jan. 29 on Champagne Avenue South.

The victim was 33-year-old Jama Roble.

Investigators are still looking for Gibriil Bakal, 29, from Edmonton. He is wanted for first-degree murder.

Abdi Hire was in court on Saturday and was remanded into custody.
