OC Transpo bringing back double-car train service on Jan. 8

By Anil Jhalli

Transit users can expect more double car trains on the Confederation Line starting early next week.

In a memo to Ottawa City Council on Friday, Jan. 5, Richard Holder, the acting general manager for the City of Ottawa’s transit services, said beginning Monday, Jan. 8, regular double-car service will run on weekdays.

Single-car service has been primarily running on Ottawa’s light rail transit system (LRT) since last summer’s nearly 30 day shutdown due to axle issues.

Trains will operate approximately every five to six minutes. Single-car train service will continue to function on weekends to meet current ridership levels.
