Ottawa Fire HazMat clears chlorine gas leak from pool

The OFS Hazardous Materials (HazMat) team cleared out a chlorine gas leak from a pool in northeast Ottawa.

Ottawa Fire said the leak was reported at around 8:16 a.m. Sunday morning at the Splash Wave Pool on Ogilvie Road.

Fire crews arrived on scene and called in their HazMat team after around 30 people were evacuated from the building.

The team brought the leaking chlorine tank outside and swept the building for any elevated levels of the gas through the building afterwards — none was found.

OFS said one employee was nauseous and light headed.

The building was turned back over to staff by 9:27 p.m.
