Road closures will be in place in downtown Ottawa Sunday as former Federal NDP Leader Ed Broadbent is honoured with a state funeral.
Broadbent passed away on January 11th at the age of 87.
The following closures will be in place from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on January 28th:
- O’Connor Street between Lisgar Street & Cooper Street
- Cooper Street between Bank Street & O’Connor Street
- The Carleton Dominon-Chalmers Centre parking lot will be closed
The ceremony will be broadcast live on Canadian Heritage’s Facebook and YouTube channels beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The service for Broadbent is the first state funeral in Canada’s capital in over two decades, since former Governor General Ray Hnatsyshyn was paid tribute to in 2002.
