Kanata man charged with drunk driving in Queensway crash

Ottawa OPP charged a 23-year-old man with impaired driving after his vehicle was involved in a collision.

Police said the driver struck the guardrail on Highway 417 at Parkdale shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday.

The driver was unharmed but police say a female passenger suffered minor injuries.

The man, who police say is from Kanata, was charged with impaired driving.

His driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days.

Just a few hours later at 6:00 a.m., Ottawa OPP responded to a call about a stranded motorist on Highway 417, who was found intoxicated.

Police gave the 24-year-old a 3-day warning range suspension and charged him for having open liquor.

In a social media post on X, the OPP is urging people to “drive sober”.
