1 man dead after Ottawa shooting

A shooting near Little Italy has killed a man, police have confirmed.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service and Ottawa Police Service (OPS) responded to an apartment building in the 100 block of Champagne Avenue South around 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29.

A 33-year-old man was transported to hospital with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Champagne Avenue South was closed between Beech and Hickory streets for the initial police investigation, but has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
