Ottawa fire crews knock down 12th brush fire in less than two weeks

Ottawa Firefighters say they stopped a brush fire from spreading to two homes in Corkery on Tuesday.

Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) says at around 12:28 p.m. they responded to the 1400 block of Corkery Road for a brush fire that was quickly spreading.

Firefighters say the brush fire was one acre in size and wind driven.

Fire crews used tanker trucks to shuttle in water from a nearby water source and knocked it down after it fire spread to three acres in size.

OFS says the fire was under control at 1:33 p.m. and stayed on scene putting out hot spots until 3 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.

OFS wants to remind the public that a city-wide burn ban is still in effect.
