OPP evacuate two Rockland schools following threats

Two schools in Rockland have been evacuated following threats made against them.

The Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are on scene investigating threats made against Rockland District High School and Rockland Public School on the morning of Tuesday, May 7.

It’s the second time this week threats have been made against the high school.

In all cases, the OPP do not believe there is an actual threat to public safety and say the evacuations are being done out of an abundance of caution.

You’re asked to avoid the area during the investigation.

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) has issued two statements to parents and guardians.

The following message was sent out Tuesday morning:

Good morning, Rockland DHS Parents/Guardians,
This morning, we received information of another threat to our school.
Police were notified immediately and are on scene investigating. All students have evacuated the school. Please know that all students and staff are safe. Do not come to the area around the school. We will update you when we have more information.
